Beware of any backup utility billed as orders of magnitude faster than VAX
BACKUP. It's very likely that it doesn't write data recovery blocks.

We get streaming on our TA78 at 6250 using VAX BACKUP /IMAGE or /FAST,
depending on whether we're doing image or incremental backup. (Granted,
we're driving it with an 8600...)

Beware of any backup utility billed as being orders of magnitude faster
than VAX BACKUP. It's very likely that it doesn't write data recovery
blocks, which are essential for a secure backup on 9-track media.

Our TA78 fast-streams at 6250 BPI using BACKUP/IMAGE or BACKUP/FAST,
depending on whether we're doing image or incremental backup. (Granted,
we're driving it with an 8600...)

BTW, I came across an ad for Rabbit-5 which said it "can restore up to
8 levels of subdirectories." I wonder what happens if you create more
(using the root directory method). For that matter, I wonder what VAX
BACKUP does to 16-deep subdirectories.
