I've heard that DEC will be announcing two new processors this month: - Followon to the uVAX II (uVAX III?), supposed to approach 11/785 class. BTW, has anybody heard if or when we might see 8MB uVAX II memory boards? A 9MB 785 is a joke. - New 8xxx class machine incorporating BI bus, which will apparently permit multiple tightly-coupled processors. Seems to me that VMS could do process load balancing in such a configuration, since memory would be on the BI. Or perhaps one processor handling context switching, one for system services, ... But DEC is apparently planning to go beyond specialization to true coprocessing. (!) Confirm? Deny? (Any disclaimers that you can think of apply)
