Kenneth Adelman of Caltech kindly offered his services to distribute bulletin sources using FTP. You can now obtain an archieve file containing all sources from Hamlet.Caltech.edu [192.12.19.3]. Login ANONYMOUS Passw GUEST Files: ARCHX.C A c program to unpack the source archieve. BULL.ARC Source archieve itself. This version is THE latest version, and will compile under VMS C V2.1-007. Few irritating smg problems have been ironed out. Few clarifications: (as a general reply to some messages I have received to date) o Bulletin system is NOT in the public domain. It is protected by the following copyright: ---------------------------------------------------- Neither York University, Department of Computer Science nor the authors assume any responsibility for the use or reliability of this software. Copyright (c) 1986, York University Dept. of Computer Science General permission to copy or modify, but not for profit, is hereby granted, provided that the above copyright notice is included and reference made to the fact that reproduction privileges were granted by the York University Dept. of Computer Science. ---------------------------------------------------- o Bulletin system is NOT a conferencing system. Currently it does not keep track of who posted the bulletin, and does not have a REPLY mechanism. It may, however, be used by as many people as you desire, forming an information exchange system. Since it supports multiple topic libraries, it is typically used to create special- interest bboards. o Bulletin is very unportable. It is designed for VMS, and makes heavy use of its facilities. If you need it under UN*X, It is probably easier to hack Vnews or re-write it from scratch. (But, of course, someone may prove me wrong..)
