I have a user who worked with a mag. tape using the VMS FLX utility a few years ago. Unfortunately, this utility is no longer available at our site so I am trying, but with little success, to use the VMS EXCHANGE Utility to download the data to disk. The user swears that the tape was created with a DOS-11 format (I've checked other formats also, RT-11, and files-11). I receive the identical errors each time. I might add that this is my first time using EXCHANGE so my problem may be easily solvable. The resulting errors are as follows: $! TAPE1 IS A LOGICAL NAME & A SYMBOL WHICH POINT TO THE ALLOCATED TAPE DRIVE $! $MOUNT/FOREIGN/OVERRIDE=(ACCESSIBILITY,IDENTIFICATION,OWNER_IDENTIFIER) TAPE1: %MOUNT-I-WRITELOCK, volume is write locked %MOUNT-I-MOUNTED, mounted on _HSC005$MUA0: $EXCHANGE EXCHANGE> MOUNT/FOREIGN TAPE1: %EXCHANGE-W-DOS11_BADLABEL, volume on _$250$MUA0: has label with invalid format -SYSTEM-F-PARITY, parity error EXCHANGE> DIRECTORY TAPE1:/VOLUME=DOS11 %EXCHANGE-W-DOS11_BADLABEL, volume on _$250$MUA0: has label with invalid format -SYSTEM-F-PARITY, parity error EXCHANGE> DISMOUNT TAPE1: %EXCHANGE-W-NOTMOUNTED, volume _HSC005$MUA0: has not been mounted on EXCHANGE EXCHANGE> EXIT $DISMOUNT TAPE1: $DEALLOCATE TAPE1: $EXIT If anyone can offer a suggestion, I would very much appreciate it.
