Is anyone using one of the Unibus coprocessors from Avalon Computer
systems?
They advertise 750 performance on a UNIBUS card for about $10k. The
card apparently plugs into UNIBUS and runs programs which were compiled
by their special compilers and paged into the processor at runtime.
The prime questions are how good are their compilers at handling all C
and Fortran constructs and are they bug-free?
Also has anyone measured the overhead of communicating with the
processor over the Unibus? Do networks connections suffer?
