One of the recent mail messages was from someone who would like all VMS- related messages to be flagged with "VMS" on the subject line. I agree, but that isn't going nearly far enough. I am a VMS system manager, who nevertheless is inundated with info-vax mail, much of it with no interest to me. Please, everyone, put an INFORMATIVE subject line on your info-vax mail!!! My suggestions: VMS, Unix, H/W, News/Rumors -- top-level subject, always included Security, C, Pascal, Macro, Symbionts, Emacs, etc. -- secondary subject Examples: VMS C: printing from a C program VMS Emacs: XON/XOFF debate Unix DITROFF: whatever etc. If everyone contributing to the list would put something reasonable on the subject line, untold hours of reader time would be saved!
