Someone posted a while ago need/desire for a native TECO, since DEC's new BI bus machines break the existing emulated TECO. We have a cluster of one 8600. TECO works here. We also have a full TOPS-10 system. TECO works there too. Soon I expect a push to remove the KL and add a VAX. The BI bus machines look attractive, but if we put one into the cluster, and use anything to connect (including our port selector or DEC's solution, terminal servers), unless we differentiate between machines (aren't clusters supposed to avoid that?) users will find TECO available just 50% of the time (that ain't enough). TECO is not the only editor on our TOPS-10 system, but a lot of our 6000+ uses know it well. If postponing the learning of an editor can be done reliably for even a medium subset of these users, the "migration" will be much more palatable. So I'm adding my voice to the duet (trio? chorus?) asking for native TECO. Has the original poster come up with anything? Thanks.
