This is yet another in a series in inane question about VMS. I'm starting to investigate a design for implementing a local accounting system on my VAX. Conceptually it is not complicated. But it has been my experience that converting from an explanation in a reference manual to a working implementation can be a hassle. So this is a request for a template to perform inter-process communication. The ideal template will be brief, be implemented using Digital "C", and demonstrate a detached daemon process answering a query from a user interface program. As a final step, the user interface program should display the answer to the query to the user. The question-answering daemon should be interrupt driven, since it should be able to do other background tasks as well as replying to queries. I'm convinced that someone has done this before, perhaps even in the context of an accounting system. If someone can save me the effort of re-inventing the wheel, I'd be very appreciative. If anyone is further interested in this project, or would like to cost-share the development effort, I'd be happy to discuss the matter. Please reply to me directly. I'll summarize to the net if interest is sufficient. Thanks a bunch.
