Ok VAX Buffs... "VAX" stands for Virtual Address eXtension... But what does "VMS" stand for? I have two votes so far for "Virtual Memory System". The official wording is needed in a purchase requisiton. Thanks for the info. Ron Tencati JPL-VLSI.ARPA

According to the Digital coursebook, VAX-11 Concepts: Machine Architecture and Overview, 'the letters "V-A-X" stand for Virtual Address eXtension' and 'VMS is the abbreviation for "Virtual Memory System"'.
