[mod.computers.vax] foreign mail protocols

AWalker@RED.RUTGERS.EDU.UUCP (06/07/86)

I haven't had much luck in trying to contact individuals about things that
their sites have written to handle the PROTOCOL%"user@host" VMS mail
construct. I know a lot of different things are out there, and after this
evening have decided that reinventing such a wheel for myself would be a real
pain in the tush. I'm running the standard Wollongong stuff, and the
MAILER!user@host construct leaves very little in the way of versatility.
Is anyone distributing [netwise, preferably; I am not on a convenient feed
for DECUS tapes] code for their own foreign handler, or at least a good
example from which I can more easily cons one up?

Well, I have one to which you are welcome. I will mail it under separate
cover, as it is too large to post as is. Kevin Carosso (engvax!kvc@cit-vax)
also has a nice one. I have very little need for it where I'm working
right now, as I can use the stuff provided by Joiner. However, it is
still in daily use where I used to work, and I continue to improve it as
I think of things that it needs.
