[mod.computers.vax] Dynamic Switched Asynchronous DECnet Lines

GLOOR@CSGHSG5A.BITNET (07/03/86)

Having a RAINBOW with DECnet-DOS V1.1 connected over a asynchronous terminal
line to a VAX (VMS V4.2) I would like to join the dynamic switching feature
of VMS. This would make it much easyer to switch between DECnet operation
and terminal emulation (e.g. LCTERM).

Now I'm running in difficulty by establishing such a line. The problem is
that SET TERM/PROTOCOL=DDCMP/SWITCH=DECNET (and /MANUAL) doesn't allways
enter automatically the terminal link and circuit into the DECnet volatile
database. Sometimes when I beginn to start DECnet on the RAINBOW very quickly
(within about 3 seconds) it works without having problems.

Is there anybody who could tell me exactly how to setup a proper configuration.
I'm working precisely after the manuals, so I believe that there must be some-
where a VMS or a DECnet parameter to justify.

Thanks a lot for attention.
Sincerely,

Peter Gloor, System Manager
