[mod.computers.vax] EMC's 4MB boards and VMS

nunn@NBS-VMS.ARPA ("NUNN, JOHN C.") (07/16/86)

One of our 11/785 running VMS 4.3 has 16MB of EMC's 4MB boards. Show
memory reports 16MB of memory, but SYSGEN (SH/ADAPTER) reports that
nexus 1 has an "unknown" device attached. Could it be that SYSGEN
doesn't yet know about these 256K boards? Does anyone have a system
with 4MB boards which are recognized by SYSGEN?

	Thanks,
	John <nunn@nbs-vms.arpa>

We have a 780 with 16Mb of EMC 4Mb boards and a 785 with 8Mb of EMC
4Mb boards and get the same response; nexus 1 shows "Unknown0". I
called EMC and they claim that this is a bug with VMS not knowing about
256k boards.
