[mod.computers.vax] Standalone backup via network to u-VAX

SYSDAN@SEMAX51.BITNET.UUCP (07/31/86)

        Hi,
does anybody out there have a soloution to the problem of doing system-
disk backups of a u-VAX with RX-50 floppies. If you don't want to spend
a day feeding that RX-50 with about 175 floppies for a RD-53, you try
to do the backup to the 750's tapedrive. It's no problem to do the backup,
but they start when you want it back.
We have a configuration with a RD-53 and a RA-81 and is running VMS 4.4 if
that matters.
We also have tried to build another system on the RA-81. There were no
VMSKITBLD.COM with the microVMS distribution but we took it from a 780.
Looking into the file we discovered an option for microVAX's but when trying
it we got no bootable system. If anyone have some comment's please reply
either directly to us or to info-VAX.
