[mod.computers.vax] Message Router for VMS ??

ta2@EDISON.BERKELEY.EDU (tom allebrandi) (08/06/86)

While flipping through my "VAX Systems and Options Summary", I came
across:

Message Router for VMS is a store and forward message transport
system that optimizes message delivery within a DECnet Phase III
or Phase IV network. Message Router for VMS supports the existing
Standards for Network Protocol, Interface and Formatting being
developed for message handling systems by the National Bureau of
	Standards.

(April-June 1986 Summary, bottom of page 9.14)

Does anyone know what this product is and/or does? Does it work with
VMS mail?

We may soon have a real need for some kind of store and forward capability
to interact with VMS Mail. We connect to a number of sites via on demand
dail-up. If a user wants to send mail to some site; he must first bring up
the link; then send his mail while the link is up. This is obviously cumbersome
but what do you do when VMS Mail won't send mail to a node who is not currently
available. If we could get VMS mail to do store and forward, the process would
be much easier.

If the "Message Router for VMS" won't do it; is there one available?

I have asked our salesman for the Product Description but would be interested
in hearing from anyone who knows anything about this product.

Thanks!
