Don't know about the DEC interface, but the following is culled from
"Mini-Micro Systems", June 1986.

"Interface connects VAX to PBX"

A 48-port, Unibus-compatible interface, the VM-48 installs into one slot on
the VAX UNIbus and connects to an Equinox Data PBX via a single cable.  The
unit replaces up to six eight-channel multiplexers.  Each line handles 75
to 9600 bps.  $7000.  Equinox Systems Inc.  12041 S.W. 144 St. Miami Florida.
