So anyway, the other day, one of the processors in our 8800 dies, and we bring the machine up on the other processor. No problem, right? Either processor can act as primary processor. Except if you are running code that happens to check your SID to make sure you aren't pirating. Each processor has its own SID - and all the code was calling us pirates.... John.

Well, actually we have only had 2 hardware failures since we installed in April. We were up for 27 days straight during August - often running at 200% for days at a time. The SID situation came up after we brought the system up with a single CPU - the one usally used as secondary - for production.
