Whew! I just finished the 4.4 doc set upgrade. Not unlike taking some gadget apart to see how it works, then putting it back together. And just like when I play with a gadget, I've got some parts left over. So I ask, did anyone else discover that "User Guide to EVE" and "VAX/VMS LAT Control Program Ref Man" have nowhere to live? Everything else washed out just fine. Just what do I do with the above? Are they no longer a part of the Doc Set? The EVE manual is now in the little "Guide to Text Processing on VAX/VMS". I'm wondering about the LAT manual, too. I don't suggest you throw it away, though. Doug Lee

BTW, there was an error in the instructions that came with the update kit. Quoting from the July VAX/VMS Systems Dispatch: The update notice page [for updating the Run-Time Library Routines Reference Manual] includes the following line: Old Page New Page -------- -------- RTL-645/646 through RTL 663/664 RTL-645/646 through RTL-663/664 Replace it with the following: Old Page New Page -------- -------- RTL-645/646 RTL-645/646 RTL-659/660 through RTL 663/664 RTL-659/660 through RTL-663/664 The consequence of having followed the instructions is that you might have deleted pages RTL-647 through RTL-658, which remain unchanged in Version 4.4. The pages involved describe several SMG routines, including INSERT_LINE, INVALIDATE_DISPLY, LABEL_BORDER, and LIST_ and LOAD_KEY_DEFS. The Systems Dispatch contains duplicates of the missing pages in case you've already discarded you old ones. -- Jerry -------

Whew! I just finished the 4.4 doc set upgrade.... [Now] "User Guide to EVE" and "VAX/VMS LAT Control Program Ref Man" have nowhere to live? Everything else washed out just fine. Just what do I do with the above? Are they no longer a part of the Doc Set? "User Guide to EVE" is included in the new TPU documentation somewhere or other. (I don't have my V4.4 set here and can't look it up, but I remember noticing it.) LAT is now a separate layered product, and the LCP manual comes with the product kit. You can save your V4.2 version of the manual; it's still mostly correct. -- Jerry -------
