[mod.computers.vax] 11/780 clock and 4.2BSD

harv@ksuvax1.BITNET (Harvard Townsend) (09/23/86)

When we reboot our 11/780, the date and time always gets changed.
Sometimes it is only a few hours off, other times a few days, other times a
few months! Our maintenance people have replaced the clock module in the VAX,
but the symptom persists. Their inclination is that it is a problem in how
4.2BSD reads the clock during the boot process. Has anyone had this problem
and cured it? If so, what did you do to fix it? I do not normally read
this news group, so please respond directly to me.
Thanks.
