A while ago someone mentioned the existence of such a program. As it turns out I suddenly need a copy. If anyone can send me a pointer to same that I can get via the net I'd sure appreciate it. gkn

Here's one person who has a tar to VMS program. I believe there are others, but this is the only one I could find in my "archives." -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Bob Paver (512) 338-3316 Microelectronics and Computer Technology Corp. We run several UNIX originated programs under VMS here, and finally got tired of having to move files via other people's hardware, and still having to convert them from stream format to VMS editable format.. so we have a little program now that will move the contents of a tar file (all of iits files) from tape into VMS directories, like BACKUP does under VMS, creating directory trees as necessary. I would be glad to make the program available (it is written in C for the VMS C compiler, and uses QIO's) to anyone who is interested. The program will be expanded shortly ( I hope) to write Tar so that we can send code back to UNIX users. My BITNET address is currently: PENSTONE@QUCDN As soon as the site lists are updated, it will be PENSTONE@QUCDNEE1 The second address is preferable, as the first is on an IBM system, which has no automatic mail forwarding to our VAX.
