[net.sf-lovers] source of quote in "Tin Soldier"

mike@bambi.UUCP (Michael Caplinger) (08/27/85)

In Joan Vinge's "Tin Soldier" (collected in her EYES OF AMBER),
the hero quotes a line from a poem, which is, so far as I can
remember, is

Arrayed in stars we shall forever sit
triumphing over Death, and Chance, and thee, oh Time.

He ascribes this quote to Milton.

The question is, where in Milton is it? It doesn't show up in any book
of quotations I could casually find, and I haven't the energy (right
now) to read all of Milton to find it. Any Milton (or Vinge) scholars?

ps. Sorry I may not have the quote exactly right; I seem to have permanently
lent out my copy, and can't find a new one.
