I'm completely new to the emacs world and would like to hear some conventional wisdom on which version to use on a VMS system. I have two on my system: one I can't identify, and GNU EMACS. They seem quite different. I have also heard rumours about an EMACS implemented in TPU, but don't know if this is real or not. I'd appreciate hearing informed opinions on various VMS versions of EMACS, especially with regard to: - ease of setup - vms "nativeness" - emacs "nativeness" - general quality (i.e., lack of bugs) & documentation - caveats I'd also be interested in any comments pro/con on emacs vs. other VMS editors, in particular TPU/EVE. If there is some well-known geneaeology of emacs's I have missed, can someone point me to it? Thanks, Greg ------
