I couldn't find any DEC documentation which had a definite answer for this, so I'm asking INFO-VAX. When a batch queue is defined with certain characteristics/quotas (i.e. base priority, max. cpu), and a user submits a job with different characteristics (i.e. a higher priority, more cpu), which limit takes effect? Reason tells me that it OUGHT to be the queue's limit, but does anyone know for sure? Mary Malmros Smith College MANAGER@SMITH (bitnet)

As far as the priority is concerned the user can alter its priority within the queue not the priority of its job in the system. Domenico

Hallow: 1.- The Max CPU of the UAF, or of the Que, is documented in the DCL Dictionary, at the command INITIALIZE/QUE. 2.- The UAF priority and the que priority are very different concepts. The uaf prior is the prior in the que (the order inside the que). The que prior is the prior in whitch the batch will work. The prior in the system. Yours Monsenor Giovanni
