There is a known problem with V4 of VMS and 8600s which cause some 8600s to get jerky LAT output (also known as the "Slow QIO" problem). There is a patch (not a fix) available from the Colorado TSC to the driver which deals with the problem. It may well be fixed at V4.5 of VMS (or the patch may be built in?).
