[net.sf-lovers] A-Filking we will go/

richardt@orstcs.UUCP (richardt) (08/25/85)

In the beginning of "Dream Park," there is a round of filk-singing.
One of the songs starts "I once had a sword, or should I say...," sung to
the tune of "Morwegian Wood" of course. Does anyone know if this song has ever
been composed in full? If it has, could you please post or mail the words.

Answer to last trivia question:"To Serve Man." It is a Damon Knight story and
was also a grade B sci-fi movie in the 1950s.

Next question: "What book had the character 'Gorse'? What did she do? Who was
the author?

I Once Had a Sword (to Norwegian Wood) was written by Charlie Luce
and originally published by him in my apa, ALARUMS AND EXCURSIONS
(for FRPers). The words are...

I once had a sword, or should I say...it once had me.
I just picked it up; oh what a sword! It was plus three.
Its Ego was 12, a fact of which I wasn't aware.
When I wanted to leave I found that the sword didn't care. Oh.....

I walked through the halls, wasting my time, nothing to find.
Then I turned a corner, and then I said, "Oh no, Undead!"
The 32 Wights saw me coming and started to laugh.
And I closed my eyes as my sword started hewing a path. Oh.....

And when I awoke, I was alone; the sword had...flown.
Now I use a club. Isn't it good? No-Ego wood!
