We are in the process of ordering a uVAX II/GPX (BA23 box, VMS). We need a high performance, large capacity add-on disk drive. The drives which we have looked at are: 1. Fujitsu `super Eagle' 575MB, 18ms(?) access Emulex QD32 2. CDC 9772-858 (XMD-3) 858MB unformatted, 16ms access Emulex QD33 Both drives would be rack mounted externally. My problem is that I have heard from separate sources that both drives are likely to be unreliable. Can anyone confirm or contradict these claims (preferably users with such drives) or suggest alternatives? Please respond directly to me via email.
