We are surveying real world VAX performance at the University of Wyoming to help determine an adequate hardware acqusition for replacement of our current systems. We would like to hear from sites with systems that consist of 780s thru 8800s (running VMS or a UNIX derivative) and need information about the following areas. o Basic system configuration. o Characterization of system usage. o Approximate number of concurrent users while retaining satisfactory performance. o Approximate number of users during peak periods. o Approximate CPU and memory utilization under the two above conditions. o Description of any bottlenecks with this configuration/usage. I know these items are difficult to quantify in any rigorous manner and we are not after a rigorous characterization. We are just looking for the system manager's opinion of his system. Thank you.
