[bug poison] Fellow net-landers, I have Oracle 5.0 running on a 785 running 4.4 VMS and was wondering if any of you who are also cursed with this affliction would mind trading performance statistics. I have people who are threatening to bring 20-30 simultaneous users doing query type operations. In order to do this, I would like any of you who are willing to participate and who run Oracle on a VAX to send me the following information: 1) Type of CPU. 2) Amount of memory. 3) Number and type of disk controllers. 4) Number and type of disks. 5) Average number of simultaneous Oracle users when system performance becomes "poor" for Oracle users. 6) Version of VMS 7) Version of Oracle I will summarize the information and either send the summary back to those who send me information or if there is enough interest, I'll send it to the net. Please note that I'm just looking for average use statistics to try to figure out how much VAX, memory and disk one needs to run Oracle. I'd also love to trade war stories about running a system with Oracle on it. -- Chris Yoder UUCP -- {allegra or ihnp4}!scgvaxd!engvax!chris Hughes Aircraft Company ARPA -- chris%engvax.uucp@usc-oberon.usc.edu
