This movie (originally - as all the Quatermass films - a tv serial in
Britain) seems also to have been the inspiration for the Dr. Who story
(title forgotten) set in Devil's End. Someone else can doubtless
remember the fine detail, but Jon Pertwee was the doctor at the time.
Must have been shown in England in about 1971.
