Is there software/hardware that supports a link between IBM PROFFS and the VAX? Where can I get information? What is PROFFS? Thanks. John MacMillan Atomic Energy of Canada Whiteshell Nuclear Research Pinawa, Manitoba, Canada R0E 1L0 (204) 753-2311 x2539

PROFS is IBM's Professional office system, which has some features like bullitins, report handling, and mail. Profs mail is slightly incompatible with normal mail, though (I don't know the specifics). I'm not sure what you mean by a link between profs and a Vax, but if you are trying to send mail, JNET will allow you to set up mail addresses such as "profs%someuser@ibmnode" - JNET is a RSCS interface for the VAX, in general. You can contact sysmsh@ulkyvx.bitnet for more information. ULKYVX it a vax cluster that is interfaced with a IBM (4341?) using JNET. Ike Chuang monkey@athena.mit.edu MIT 11-205 Cambridge, MA 02139
