I've just encountered a new glitch in TWG's WIN/VX mailer and wonder whether anyone else has seen this. After spending several days wondering why I hadn't gotten any replies back to some urgent messages, I checked the mailer - I had done so before, but noted that it was running and didn't worry about it. (The mailer runs periodically in batch - i.e., it does its thing and then resubmits itself to run again after a specified period of time.) What had happened this time, though, was that the batch job had gotten stuck - which meant that what I thought were several instances of mailer jobs were in fact the same stuck job. (I'll check the PID, job number, or login time next time!) Here's what the mailer log showed: 220 x.com Server SMTP 250 x.com 250 OK 250 Recipient OK. TIMEOUT: aborting message I was able to recover by running a FORCEX program to abort the mailer; this let the job continue and resubmit itself. I have no idea why a network timeout should cause the mailer to enter a state of Nirvana. Does anyone else?
