OMOND@EMBL.BITNET.UUCP (01/27/87)
I just got my December '86 copy of the DECUS SIGs Newsletters (it's only 27-Jan-87 :-) ... Anyway, reading them as conscientiously as I always do, I came across the VAXnotes conference from the Fall '86 Symposium in San Francisco (which I'd love to have attended but, y'know, ze money ... *sigh*). Larry Kilgallen (Pageswapper Editor) (you on this list, Larry ?) rightly decided to remove any reference to individual names or institutions from the conference notes. However, there was one Note (Note 35.0 on page VAX-144), whose author I'd like to contact. The note went so : --------------------------------------------------------------------- Note 35.0 VMS printer queues, symbionts, etc. 47 replies 8-Oct-1986 11:10 Anybody out there interested in ... ... ways to have a printer on a cluster appear as a spooled device on each node of the cluster ? ... ways to send print jobs over DECnet to printers on remote nodes (not necessarily on a cluster) ? ... interesting applications of VMS server symbionts (e.g. mail processing for network gateways; "reminder" systems, etc.) --------------------------------------------------------------------- The author suggested in a later note that she/he is contactable on Bitnet, HEPNET, Arpanet etc. This sounds like good stuff and would the author consider making this available to the rest of the VAXworld ? (in particular me :-) Greetings to everyone, Roy Omond (European Molecular Biology Laboratory, Heidelberg, W. Germany) Bitnet/EARN: Omond@EMBL VAXPSImail: PSI%02624562213002::Omond
