[mod.computers.vax] PSEUDO disks in VMS

tencati@JPL-VLSI.ARPA.UUCP (02/11/87)

Tom,

Look carefully at the routine SYS$UPDATE:STABACKIT.COM. There is some code in
there which produces a MACRO program called SETSIZE. It is run to create a
section of pool 512*(desired-blocks) bytes in size. The driver PDDRIVER
then is used to init and mount this PSEUDO disk.

The procedure neatly erases any trace of this when it runs, so when it exits,
you do not know you had a pseudo disk at all.

There is also an article in one of the VAX professionals on RAM disks for
MicroVAXes. It should work for larger vaxes as well.

I don't remember the date of the issue. I got it free at DEXPO in SF last year.

Good Luck,
