The VAX Professional issue containing the article on RAMdisks is Vol 8, No. 4 - August 1986. The article recommends only using it for non-critical data (i.e. things that do not change). A great use is for frequently used System EXEs like LOGINOUT, EDT, VMSHELP, COPY, TYPE, LSE, etc. The writer includes a program which does the same thing as SETSIZE written in fortran, a sample command file to be called by SYSTARTUP.COM to start the driver and mount the disk, along with lots of useful information about how system parameters should be set up. He only recommends this for people with systems that have at least 60 percent or more of available memory. I have not had a chance to try it out, but I am hoping to get a chance in the coming week or two. Anton::
