The 9798's are Fujitsu drives which are about 600 MB. They can either be used as large single drives (I don't know what VMS thinks they are in this case - probably extended RM05's if using SI's DRDRIVER) or they can be mapped as two RM05 lookalikes. We have two 9798's set up in the latter way (i.e. for a total of 4 "logical" drives). They have been very reliable. The only problem we have ever had is some bug in the dual-porting kit which only manifests itself if one of the 9900 controllers it is connected to has to be reset. In this case it is necessary to disable the other channel (which is not good if someone is using it); otherwise it can propagate the signal and cause problems on the other side - nothing disastrous, just mount verifications etc. Not a problem unless there are page/swap files being accessed. The 9751's (SI's number for the Eagles) are incredibly reliable drives. I have never heard anyone complain about their performance or their MTBF (ours have never failed, and some are at least 3 years) - touch wood (I have had lots of problems lately with older CDC 9775's; I don't need to ask for more). We have 16 Eagles now. The 9744's I don't know about yet; we have 2 on order to be used as system disks for MicroVAXes. If we have any problems I will let the list know.
