This looks to be the place to ask this, if not please tell me where. For someone who is off-line. Are there any modelling / capacity planning programs for Ethernet (primarily VAX and uVAX)?? We are just installing our VAX (replacing DEC-20) and some people are already kicking around ideas of Etherneting it to some uVAXen (and possibly PC-ish systems). And the systems manager wondered if there were any tools for determining how traffic would change when hanging various configurations of other systems (gateways to other facilities, servers, etc ...) on the Ethernet.
