It is a known problem. DEC has a patch for it. They broke (accidentally) DECnet VAX to all DECnet phase II systems. We had similar problem to IAS and they provided a patch. At same time mentioned that the problem also occurred on DEC 20's. * *---Art * *Arthur T. We run an application on the VAX which copies files from the 20 using RMS from MACRO. This ran OK under VMS 4.2, but with 4.4 the RMS $OPEN fails with "RMS-F-SYS, QIO system service request failed" coupled with "SYSTEM-F-LINKABORT, network partner aborted logical link". It doesn't fail on every file, nor necessarily twice on the same file, but it fails a lot. Considered opinion is that it is a timing problem, but where we go from there I don't know. Has anyone out there had a similar problem, and if so have you fixed it? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Ronan Flood, systems programmer, Liverpool Polytechnic, England.
