We are interesting in obtaining a complete tape management system for
VAX/VMS. I am interested any comments, good or bad, on tape management
systems that you may be using.
The TAPESYS product from SOFTWARE PARTNERS/32 seems to be ideal. Can
anyone comment on it? How is their support?
The tape management system should have the following capabilities:
1. General disk backup capabilities for disk rebuilding as well as
user requested retrievals.
2. A file archive system for saving files for longer time periods than
the normal backup rotation period.
3. Good report generating capabilities for tape resource management.
4. Onsite and offsite tape management.
The product should use VMS BACKUP for making tapes, or else provide
strong evidence that it is functionally equivalent to BACKUP with
respect to data integrity.
