Hi, Bob ... it's good to know that somewhere out there exists a DECUS director who's interested in what's wrong with DECUS. Here's my ideas :- >>> 1. What should be the important points in a DECUS Commercialism Policy? >>> What should or should not be permitted in the Newsletters, at Symposia or in >>> the Exhibit Area? There is a real need, I think, for simple, understandable >>> rules - before we become a trade arena rather than a technical forum. There is nothing fundamentally wrong with commercialism; we all live in the real world, and need to know what's available, who's selling it, and how much it costs. All that is required is that commercial aspects should be subsidiary to technical issues. Stop censoring prices in SIG newsletters. Stop censoring prices, period. >>> 2. Why is Symposia attendance declining? Or, why are half the attendees >>> at each Symposium "first timers"? Why don't you come more often? Because DECUS symposia, like DECUS tapes are TOO DAMNED EXPENSIVE. The only DECUS tapes I've ever been able to afford are the symposia tapes which are redistributed at very reasonable cost within the UK. Real DECUS library tapes are out of my league. DECUS symposia are out of my league. I can just about justify local SIG meetings, and only then when there are items on the agenda which are vital. Is there a source of DECUS tape archives which is available via anonymous ftp over MILNET/ARPANET ? Randy Sebra Army Materiel Systems Analysis Activity Attn: AMXSY-DA Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland 21005 Phone: (301) 278-6679 (AV) 298-6679 (FTS) 939-6679

I have some limited number which I can temporarily load and have you ftp them off but I don't have the storage to leave them on-line all of the time.......If you find a site that does I would be very interested in that fact. -ed cetron Center for Engineering Design Univ. of Utah cetron%utah-cbd@utah-cs.arpa

Folkies (And Floksettes), We have something to write in VS-FORTRAN here, (Yes VS-FORTRAN), and it appears VS-FORTRAN has no DO WHILE structure (Like VAX/11 FORTRAN). Well back some time ago I used a FORTRAN Pre-Processor on a DEC 10 called FLECS. DECUS shows a FLECS for PRO-300. Does anybody know of a FLECS written in plain vanilla FORTRAN which could be adapted to VS-FORTRAN? (VS-FORTRAN ~ FORTRAN-77). TBLAKE@BINGVAXB.BITNET Thomas R.
