Robin Iaquinto of Nemonix Corp. in Hopkinton MA has offered me a discount schedule on the NXII-8MB memory boards for the uVax and has requested that this schedule offer be extended to the University consortium on hardware discounts. She has offered to monitor quantities purchased herself and apply cumulative totals across the consortium membership. Membership is automatic for any college or university or individual purchasing equipment on a college or university P.O. The following numbers were quoted: Qty Consortium Price 1-10 1,250 10-50 1,200 50-100 1,175 100+ 1,150 These boards have a lifetime warrany and 24 replacement service. I realize that the net is not the place for commercial announcements. On the other hand, this kind of competitive pricing is only effective if the word can get around somehow. If these prices are not as good as others are able to negotiate, please post! Otherwise, I would think that we could easily accumulate a demand for 100 boards over a fairly short period. This would then have the distinct advantage of giving some negotiating power to some of the smaller schools. Jerry Lotto (lotto@harvard.harvard.edu) The information above was collected by a group of system managers at Harvard called the ABCD (Assoc. for Better Computer Disc.) committee and represents the offers of one memory vendor. Others have made similar proposals, but none which offer benefits to as large a group. Harvard does not specifically endorse any one hardware vendor, and my opinions are not meant to be representative of Harvard.
