Hi there, Is anyone out there as confuesd as I am about DEC's strategy in implementing printers that work with all-in-1? We have Rainbows, DECmate 2&3's and IBM PC's with the recommended com s'ware. We have LQP02s LN03s and LA210s attached to the DEC products, and Quietwriters and HP Laser printers attached to the IBM products The DECmates seem to work with all DEC combinations. The Rainbows seem to have major problems with any DEC printer (we have the latest "field test" version of the software). The IBM's are, at best, marginal with the printers. Our Office Automation people tell me that *none* of the printer products from DEC support *real* envelope feeding, and that the single sheet feeding is only supported with the Letter quality printers (and since we have upgraded to version 2.1 of all-in-1, the LQP02's seem not to work on queues) and the only thing that seems to work well are the LN03's which have only one paper tray and no envelope feeding device. Thes same people have used la75s and see them as no alternative. We are trying to ween these people from a IBM 5520 document processing system, but the matter of the multiple paper trays and envelope feed is very important to them. Are the printer product persons at DEC brain dead? We are looking at the print server 40 (still no envelope feed) and several 3rd party solutions. I would be interested to hear from others that have gone this same route.
