Later this year, we will move our VAX computers to a new building which is some distance from our Siemens PBX switch which doubles as the port selector. Because the switch is now adjacent to the computers, we've used individual twisted pairs to connect each port to the switch. This option will prove rather cumbersome when we will have to pull 100+ lines across campus. We'd like to employ a T1 interconnect to carry multiplexed lines from the switch to the VAX. DEC has one such product, the CPI32, but our consultants tell us that the CPI standard used in this board is unique to Northern Telecom and unuasable on anyone else's telephone equipment. Siemens and AT&T both employ the DMF substandard of T1. I strongly doubt that this has any correspondence to DEC's DMF-32 product. Does anyone out there know of products that provide the DMF interconnect. Ideally, we'd like to use one T1 line from the switch to a UNIBUS board to replace 20 or more individual phone lines. Thanks.
