Vanderburg: >The only thing I know of is jnet.... > >The big problem is that the only other driver they supply is for an asynch >connection which is terribly slow... jnet supports two types of links: - binary synchronous communication (BSC) lines - DECnet virtual circuits the BSC links can be over a DMF32 sync port at up 19,200 baud or over a DUP11 at up to 9600 baud. if you are talking locally this certainly can be a bottleneck, but if you are an educational institution going out over BITNET, then you have to realize that most of BITNET talks over 9600 baud leased phone lines and getting a file or message to an adjacent node at DECnet link speed will only result in it queueing up there before going out at 9600 baud. - randy
