I'm seeking help with a DEUNA - XEDRIVER problem. Basically, our lab is trying to interface a VAX running VMS with some instruments running a third-party application level Ethernet protocol. I can get VMS to start an XE device for me with the appropriate buffer size, but when I issue a $QIO for a READLBLOCK function, it queues but never completes. I have tried setting promiscuous mode to ensure that I haven't misread the third-party protocol type specification, and it doesn't help. In fact, when I do this even from a non-privileged account, I don't get a no-privilege error, leading me to believe that I'm not really starting the device correctly. If anyone can mail me pointers, advice, or suggestions, I would appreciate it. BTW, I will gladly accept "RTFM" as useful advice, but only if it is accompanied by the title of the appropriate manual. I have not yet found a useful one in our VMS set. Stephen Kelley Flow Cytometry Lab Department of Pathology University of Michigan Medical Center.
