<      But what I  *REALLY**  want is to allow a user to change his cpu
<   time limit for his current process.  Has anyone done this, or can
<   you suggest a method I might use?  I wold like our customer base to

 About two years ago I wrote a program to do this. It is written in VAX C,
and allows a user to extend his cputime limit at weekends and in the evening.
It needs CMKRNL privilege, and needs to be linked with the system symbol table
to get at the symbols CTL$GL_PHD ( pointer to the process header ) and
PHD$L_CPULIM ( offset within the PHD of the CPU time limit ).
