Hi folks!
I have a kind of urgent one here. We've been given an SW/IVEX
board to use for 30 days. This is to replace our ABLE/BRIDGE HACK board
that we were using (and having LOTS of problems with) with our Bridge
terminal server equipment on our 8650.
The release notes for version 10010 of the IVEX board (the one they
gave us) says the following;
"On a VAX 8600 running VMS, if a DMA transmission
is initiated by the VAX before the end of a silo
transmission, the micromachine hangs and may
cause VMS to crash
In order to avoid this problem, use the following
procedure ..."
whereupon it then says to set TTY_DMASIZE = 0. To the best of my
knoledge, this means that EVERY transfer out a terminal port will try to
be DMA. I also have a bunch of DZ's on my machine.
Q: What will happen?
TTY_DMASIZE is probably there for a reason. I've never looked in
the guts of any terminal drivers in VMS yet so I'm not entirely certain
what's going to happen. HELP!!! They want to plug this board in REAL
soon.
This bug sounds silly to me but I don't explain 'em, I just report.
If it were up to me I'd send the board back for this and other bugs
until they got it right but I don't have that option.
Thanks much.
