Good morning, Over the past couple of weeks (since we went to VMS v4.5) our queue manager has been dying on various nodes of our cluster (8 750s, 1 8650). Our printers use a locally written symbiont which we know very little about, but are planning on learning more about. It's been working reliably for many months, until we went to 4.5. The problem may or may not be related to the symbiont. Our job queue manager dies at inopportune times, usually with an error writing to the job control mailbox. The job control dumps inform us that "shareable images need to be installed with privs" or something similar. When we did the upgrade, we moved SMBSRVSHR.EXE to sys$common:[syslib], and did the trick with installing it in the library. This image is not installed, should it be? Installing it doesn't seem to help, but other factors could be involved. The queue manager has been dying more and more frequently. Sometimes job control won't respond, and sometimes it trashes our JBCSYSQUE.DAT, taking any jobs currently in the queues with it. Somwtimes the batch jobs continue to run, "disinherited", as it were, not showing up in any queue after we get them restarted. This is becoming very disturbing. Thanks, --Rod & Bryan
