Does anyone know the argument to the OASYS/Glockenspiel C++ preprocessor which makes it tolerate dollar-signs in identifiers? I've called OASYS repeatedly but can't seem to beat an answer out of them. I've heard rumors that such a flag exists; imagine trying to call SYS$QIOW without it... We're just now trying to find a usable C++ system. The language looks nice, but I don't know if the OASYS/Glockenspiel port (from U**x) can be used for the kind of systems programming we do here. In addition to the dollar-sign problem, this particular C++ doesn't seem to know about the VAX-C storage class keywords "globaldef" and "globalref," which will make it hard to write sharable library code. I'm not overly impressed with its execution speed; it also insists upon writing an ungodly number of copyright messages which get old in a hurry. Are there other C++ systems for VMS that might be better? Thanks... Dave Barach (replies to "dave@bbn.com")
