This came from a user at an EARN node, which is the European "Section" of BITNET. Anyhow, since I haven't had much trouble contacting Bitnet sites recently, I'll assume that your problem isn't with the WISCVM mailer which catches alot of flak. Bitnet/Earn/Netnorth is a store and forward system which has been plagued with some very bad file queues recently. On one of the major links (City University of New York <--> Penn State Univ.) files have been waiting for over a month to go over one 9600 baud cable (the link was manually massaged recently to get those files moving). Other links that show bad file queues include the two links from BITNET (In the US) to EARN (In Europe). I suspect (Although I can't get to my Bitnet machine right now to check) that some if not all of your INFO-VAX mail is sitting in a queue waiting to be sent. My only suggestion to help you out is to try and locate another route to/from INFO-VAX. Bitnet/Earn/Netnorth has several gateways from Bitnet to Arpa, even though the "official" one is at WISCVM. If you can avoid the long haul from WISCVM to where you are, you will get your mail alot faster. Regards, ^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v^v John J. ``Fast Eddie's'' comments about switching gateways are a no-no. All BITNET Info- Vax mail (should) come through WISCVM as a single copy which is then distributed by the Listserv Network. Going across the Atlantic, then *should* be only _one_ copy of Info-Vax which is redistributed by European listserves. Considering the fact that I know of no EARN-ARPA gateways, your suggestion won't help at all, and in fact will only increase traffic on the BITNIC-EARN link. G'day -Don Hosek
