[mod.computers.vax] Interpreting the Load Average

X979PK0P@CMCCVB.BITNET (03/19/87)

We are using the LOAD AVERAGE Driver (LAVDRIVER) along with the Garland
Finger Program. Does anyone know how to interpret the load average value
that is displayed with Finger?

The load average is the number of compute bound processes (excluding
NULL) averaged over a certain amount of time. With LAVDRIVER, the
numbers from left to right are the 1-minute, 5-minute, and 15-minute
averages.

Cheers,
Tony ;-)
