According to my KA630-AA CPU Module User's Guide (Digital order number EK-KA630-UG-001), the Console SLU Connector (J3) only shows pinout signals for SLU inputs and output and no "modem control" signals like DTR, etc. Thus the console port is only appropriate for directly connected terminals. The DHV11 (or equivalent, lots of 3rd party equivalents) does support modem control signals and terminals connected via these lines would behave the way you want.
